Mission
General Information
The Investigation Section was formed July 23, 2000 by combining the Environmental Investigation Section and the Special Investigation Section. We increased the total number of investigators that could work on various investigations. Our primary goal is to assist all field conservation officers in major investigations and continue to specialize in environmental and long term fish and wildlife cases.
The Investigation Section works closely with the DNR Divisions of Water and Fish and Wildlife, as well as, other state agencies such as the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. The section also works with agencies such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Environmental Protection Agency, the FBI and the Canadian Wildlife Service. The section receives information from a wide range of sources including federal, state, and local agencies, our field officers, and most importantly, the public.
To contact the section with a complaint, you may call the office at (317) 233-3848. You may also call the Turn in a Poacher or Polluter hotline directly at 1-800-TIP-IDNR or email a complaint.
