May is Preservation Month!

May is National Historic Preservation Month! Throughout the month, DHPA and other local historical organizations highlight historic preservation around the country. A variety of events will happen across the state and the DHPA will host a calendar of these events. If you would like to have your event put on our calendar, send the details to

In addition to the Calendar of Events, the DHPA sponsors two contests: the Historic Preservation Photo Contest and the 4th grade essay contest "My Favorite Historic Place in Indiana."

The DHPA also prints a poster each year to commemorate Historic Preservation Month in May. The poster for 2013 features some of Indiana's Carnegie libraries.

Contact the DHPA at (317) 232-1647 or for a complimentary poster. Quantities are limited.
