About the License System
You will need a printer to print your license. Please turn on and test your printer now by printing this page.
Customer ID Number
Save your Customer ID number. The Customer ID number prints on the upper left-hand corner of your license, above your name and address. After you have a Customer ID number, all you need is that and your date-of-birth to purchase licenses online or at the retailer.
Gift Certificate information
Rules for Gift Certificates:
- People will be able to purchase or redeem a gift certificate only online or at a DNR property that sells hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses.
- The gift certificates are for fishing, hunting, or trapping licenses only.
- There are two ways to get a gift certificate:
- 1. while purchasing a hunting, fishing, or trapping license online or at a DNR property, a person can add a gift certificate as an option
- 2. click on the Gift Certificates Link to purchase only a gift certificate.
- The amount of the gift certificate can be in dollars and cents
- The amount remaining on the gift certificate will be tracked and the remaining balance can be used for future license purchases.
- When redeeming the gift certificate online, the user will be shown the current balance of the gift certificate.
- The gift certificate can be used to donate (see below), but a gift certificate cannot be used to purchase another gift certificate.
- The gift certificate cannot be redeemed as cash.
Personal Information
Information collected by the Indiana DNR will not be disclosed except as required by state or federal law. All social security numbers and/or credit card numbers are treated as 'Secured Data.' The DNR does not maintain credit card numbers on file.

1. In Person
Most licenses, including youth hunting licenses, are available from retailers, county clerks and most DNR properties throughout the state.
Non-resident licenses are available at the state’s Customer Service Center in Indianapolis and at most DNR properties. The DNR Customer Service Center is located in

2. By Mail
Send your order with the following:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Include a copy of hunter education certificate or card if born after Dec. 31, 1986
- Complete address, city, state, zip, phone number
- Height, weight, color of hair and color of eyes
- Social Security number (this is mandatory)
- Specify the licenses including the season (i.e. deer for muzzleloader)
