Indiana Late Goose Hunting Permits
Welcome to the permitting site for late goose hunts in Indiana. There are two late goose hunts available in Indiana: a late Canada goose zone season from Feb. 1 – 15, 2014 in 30 counties, and a light goose conservation order from Feb. 1 – March 31, 2014 statewide (except the late Canada goose zone, which is open for light geese Feb. 16 – March 31, 2014). Late Canada Goose Zone Season
- This season is open Feb. 1–15, 2014 in the following counties: Steuben, Lagrange, Elkhart, St. Joseph, La Porte, Starke, Marshall, Kosciusko, Noble, De Kalb, Allen, Whitley, Huntington, Wells, Adams, Boone, Hamilton, Madison, Hendricks, Marion, Hancock, Morgan, Johnson, Shelby, Vermillion, Parke, Vigo, Clay, Sullivan, Greene.
- This season is open on Canada geese only.
- You must have an Indiana hunting license, Indiana waterfowl stamp, federal waterfowl stamp, and a HIP number to participate.
- Shooting hours are from one-half hour before sunrise to sunset.
- Regular waterfowl regulations apply. It is illegal to take Canada geese using electronic callers, shotguns capable of holding more than three shells, or to shoot after sunset.
- The bag limit for this season is 5 Canada geese per day, with a possession limit of 15.
- Please report any banded geese taken. You may report these bands by calling toll-free 1-800-327-BAND, or online at http://www.reportband.gov/.
No special permit is needed for the late Canada Goose season, and birds no longer need to be checked.
Light Goose Conservation Order
- This conservation order is open statewide Feb. 1 – March 31, 2014, except in the late Canada goose zone, where it is open Feb. 16 – March 31, 2014.
- Legal species include snow geese and Ross’ geese (white and blue phases of both species are legal).
- You must have an Indiana hunting license and an Indiana waterfowl stamp to participate. Neither a federal waterfowl stamp nor a HIP number is required.
- You must also have a special free permit to participate. These permits will be available beginning in early January at Indiana Fish and Wildlife Areas, or via this web page beginning in December.
- The permit has a brief survey attached to it. Please return this survey to us. These surveys help us determine if we are meeting the federal requirements for this season. The survey is postage-paid, no stamps are required.
- Shooting hours are from one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset.
- It is legal to take light geese during the conservation order using electronic callers and/or shotguns capable of holding more than three shells.
- There is no bag or possession limit for light geese during the conservation order.
- Please report any banded geese taken. You may report these bands by calling toll-free 1-800-327-BAND, or online at http://www.reportband.gov/.
