The Catts of Bloomington were reminiscing about family trips and flipping through photos when they came upon this scene from Pokagon State Park’s toboggan run in February 2008. Bill, a commercial electrician and the photographer, remembers driving through several whiteouts to get there, and the southbound lane of Interstate 69 being shut down. “It was bad driving but excellent for tobogganing.” His daughter, Bailey, and her friend, Paulita Lara, are shown getting ready for the last run of the night. The Catts have been subscribers “long enough that I don’t know how long,” Bill said.
Wei Guinn is a student at Purdue. She is from China and became a U.S. citizen six years ago. This scene is from last Jan. 6, near Wheatfield in Jasper County. She and her husband were driving back from Chicago the day before. A storm forced them to stay the night at the town’s fire department, where she said they were touched by everyone’s hospitality. On the way home the next morning she recorded this sundog using her Nikon 800, 24-70 lens and a ND filter. She said she loves the beautiful nature of Indiana and its people.
