The 1st Annual Firetower 15.3 is organized and sponsored by the Brown County Community YMCA starts at 7:30 a.m. The Duathlon will be held in Brown County State Park beginning and ending at the Fire Tower near the Park Office. The Duathlon includes 5k (3.1-mile) Road Run, 10-mile Bike, and a 2.2 Trail Run. The course spans from the Fire Tower to the Nature Center and toward the West Gate. Participants may enter as an individual or as 2 or 3 person team.
We will also be offering a 5K Run or 5K Walk as a separate event. Proceeds from the Duathlon go toward the Brown County YMCA’s scholarship fund.

One of North America's largest ultra marathons. Also includes a 3-person 50K Relay and a One-Loop Run(10 Mile). There are discounted fees for 19 and under relay entrants. The trail is easy enough to be a good first-time trail course; technical enough to give an advantage to seasoned trail runners. Measure yourself against time, distance...and weather. We're known for the great post-race foods - particularly our array of soups. Overall men's and women's winner of the 50K receive a large, engraved, granite trophy. Custom finisher's medal to each participant completing The HUFF 50K individual race or a HUFF 50K Relay. The medal is also a belt buckle. HUFF logo gear for all 50K and 50K Relay participants.

The swim will take place in Lake Lincoln, the bike is an out and back on the flat roads around Lincoln State Park, and the run will be on the parks many beautiful trails. YMCA/Friends of McCormick's Creek 4 Mile Trail Run/Walk
September 29, 2013: 2 p.m.
Runners and walkers are invited to enjoy the autumn colors, fellowship and refreshments, and some friendly competition at the YMCA/Friends of McCormick’s Creek 4 Mile Trail Run/Walk on Sun., Sept. 29, at McCormick’s Creek State Park. Packet pick up and race day registration will begin at 1:00PM at the Nature Center. Start time is at 2:00PM. Proceeds from the event will fund family programming at McCormick’s Creek State Park and YMCA scholarships for local low-income families.
An event for the entire family, last year’s trail race drew 124 runners and walkers from across the region, ranging in age from 9-78 years. The 2013 race promises to be equally well-attended. Awards will be granted to top 2 finishers, male and female, in each age group for the run category and first place, male and female, in each age group for the walk category. Prizes will be awarded to the overall winners, male and female, for the run and walk. Magnificent 7 Race Series points may also be earned.
The trail race route is comprised of Trail 9 and another trail not normally accessible to the public. Trail surfaces are dirt, mown grass, and crushed stone. Most sections of the route are wide enough to accommodate racers traveling side-by-side. Terrain is comprised of rolling hills and fields to provide adequate intensity for competitive runners and walkers, yet still be manageable for casual participants.

Do you enjoy competing in the great outdoors? If so, you'll love the Mighty Mississinewa Triathlon. Follow the same paths historically walked by the Miami Indian's. Swim the lake, ride county roads, and run groomed trails through beautiful natural areas.
Proceeds from this event will be invested in a fund managed by Indiana Heritage Trust. This fund will be used to purchase ground around Mississinewa Lake, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, IDNR, as it becomes available. Conserving and managing land for today's visitors and future generations to enjoy is the goal of the IDNR and the staff at Mississinewa Lake.

The annual 5K Hellbender Hustle/Woodrat Walk is a part-road, part-trail race that begins at the Hickory Hollow Nature Center inside the State Park. This event is sponsored by O’Bannon Woods State Park and Racers & Pacers. By hosting this event we hope to raise awareness for the hellbender and engage the community in its conservation. Participants receive a t-shirt with their $18 registration fee.

The 7th Annual Pokagon State Park Triathlon on starts at 9 a.m. and runs within the park and out into Steuben County. The event is being organized and conducted by TriFort Triathletes.
Participants will compete in this Olympic distance event being staged at the park’s CCC shelter.

Volksmarches provide a great opportunity to get to know other people who enjoy walking and hiking. "Volksmarch" is a German term, literally meaning “a people's walk”. Local clubs host walks that have been chosen for natural beauty, scenic interest, historical value and safety. The trails are well-marked or maps are provided. Walks usually consist of a marked or guided 10 kilometer (6.2 mile) route. Each participant is encouraged to walk at a pace that is comfortable and enjoyable.

This 5k Run/Walk will benefit the Thomas Clarkson, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund (Union County HS Scholarship). Thomas was a Union County High School graduate who died while in military service.
The 5k run starts at Whitewater beach with a veterans’ memorial service to follow at the beach memorial.
