For Immediate Release
INDIANAPOLIS (November 20, 2008) – The Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF), in partnership with the Indiana Business Research Center (IBRC) at Indiana University, today released an online property tax calculator for St. Joseph County taxpayers. This tool allows taxpayers to enter their property’s assessed value, taxing district and possible deductions to see tax bill estimates for bills due in 2008. Taxpayers can access the tool from the Department’s Web site at www.in.gov/dlgf/4932.htm.
“The estimates provided by this tool are projections that taxpayers can use to determine how recent legislation will affect them,” Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave said.
The release was in conjunction with the approval of St. Joseph County’s 2008 budget and certification of tax rates on November 20, 2008.
The estimates provided by this tool are projections only and should not be taken as a statement of true tax liability, which is determined by the county.
Estimates are not yet available for Olive Township and New Carlisle (Olive) due to these taxing districts being cross county units with LaPorte County.
A copy of the St. Joseph County budget and the DLGF analysis also will be available online at www.in.gov/dlgf/4143.htm.
