Brian Bailey serves as the Commissioner for the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance. He joined the Department in March 2009 as general counsel after five years of private practice in an Indianapolis law firm where he practiced business and appellate litigation in all levels of the state- and federal-court system. As a member of the appellate practice section of the state bar association, Brian served as a faculty member for continuing legal education programs in appellate law. Before entering private practice, Brian served as a judicial law clerk to Judge John G. Baker of the Indiana Court of Appeals.
Brian graduated with a B.A., summa cum laude, in Classical Sudies from Wabash College. Brian received his J.D., cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law - Bloomington, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Indiana Law Journal.
Brian and his wife Nicole have three sons and four daughters. He and his family are members of ClearNote Church in Bloomington, Indiana, where Brian serves as an elder.
