More Summer Child Safety Reminders

Fireworks Safety

This time of year, it is important to practice fireworks safety to prevent any accidents or burns. More than 25 percent of fireworks injuries are to children under the age of ten. Even sparklers burn at nearly 2,000 degrees.

The best way to practice firework safety is to attend professional shows.   However, if you are lighting your own fireworks always keep them out of children’s reach. Never use fireworks indoors or near dry grassy areas. Keep a bucket of water around in case of accidents. Learn more at Summer Child Safety.

Camping Safety

Camping is a great summer activity for the whole family!

The safest way to camp is to plan ahead and make sure everyone is prepared!

When going camping always check the whether to check for storms or extreme temperatures. Never leave kids unsupervised and help them recognize poison ivy and other poisonous plants before heading out. If you’re making a camp fire, keep it away from tents and vegetation.
