In 2005, the Indiana State Board of Animal Health (BOAH) introduced Hoosier producers and veterinarians to the electronic certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI), or eCertificate.  BOAH partnered with GobalVetLINK (GVL) to offer Hoosiers eCertificates in addition to the standard paper CVI.

By incorporating digital-age technology into the traditional CVI-writing process, eCertificates make the reporting process simpler for veterinarians and producers, and improve animal trace-back efficiencies in a disease break situation.

As the first major change to the CVI in decades, GVL's eCertificates allow users to improve their businesses through use of on-line services.  Not only is the web-based application easier to use than the old paper forms for the practitioners, it's a more professional certificate to present to the practitioner's clients, that uses USDA-approved PKI (public key infrastructure) technology.  All of the certificates available through GVL offer the capability to put digital pictures of the animal directly on the certificate, which turns out to be a marketable benefit for the practitioners using the new system.

Global VetLINK offers electronic:

  • Coggins (EIA) certificates
  • Health certificates for 10 species (CVIs)
  • Prescription certificates (eVRxsm)
  • Veterinary Feed Directives (eVFDs)
  • Certificate retrieval through
