Indiana Auditor Suzanne Crouch

Suzanne Crouch brings an exemplary career in public service to the Office of State Auditor.

Before becoming Auditor, Crouch represented House District 78, which encompasses parts of Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties. She was elected to the seat in 2005, and served as the Vice Chairman of the Ways and Means and on the Public Health Committees. While in the House, Crouch had several legislative accomplishments, including co-author of Major Moves, which funded road projects across the state, including the future completion of I-69 from Evansville to Indianapolis.

Before serving in the House of Representatives, Crouch spent eight years as Auditor of Vanderburgh County, holding office from 1995-2002. During that time, her office received its first clean bill of health in decades from the State Board of Accounts. Crouch then went on to serve as a Vanderburgh County Commissioner until joining the House. She presided as president of that body during her third year in office. Prior to her career in public service, Crouch spent four years as Chairman of the Vanderburgh County Republican Party.

Auditor Crouch graduated from Mater Dei High School in Evansville. She then went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University, majoring in Political Science. She also took post graduate courses in accounting from the University of Southern Indiana. Crouch has been married 35 years to her husband Larry Downs. They have one grown daughter, Courtney. Crouch attends St. John's Daylight Catholic Church.
