Attorney General Greg Zoeller will join forces once again in 2014 with the Indiana State Bar Association and Feeding Indiana’s Hungry (FIsH) for the sixth annual March Against Hunger food drive.
March Against Hunger is a friendly competition between law firms to raise the most donations – either of non perishable foods or direct monetary contributions – for Indiana’s 11 regional food banks. The drive will run from March 1-31.
In 2013, 52 law groups participated in March Against Hunger and raised 10,065 pounds of food and $55,455 - which is the equivalent of 287,340 pounds or 143 tons of food. Overall, the program has raised a total of 44,166 pounds of food and $182,622 for a total of 477 tons in assistance since 2009.
"All food drive participants deserve recognition for their efforts to serve their local communities by selflessly giving their time and money to a worthy cause," Zoeller said. "Too many Hoosiers, including children, face hunger on daily basis and it’s heart-warming to see the members of my profession step up in such a big way.”
Zoeller presented the 2013 Attorney General’s Cup to the biggest donating firms in six categories:
Barnes & Thornburg – Elkhart, South Bend, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis
Burke Costanza & Carberry, LLP – Merrillville
Wilkinson Goeller Modesitt Wilkinson & Drummy LLP – Terre Haute
Tuesley Hall Konopa, LLP – South Bend
Steven Douglas Law Office – Ellettsville
Vanderburgh County Prosecutor's Office – Evansville
