Healthy arts organizations help build vibrant creative communities throughout Indiana. Yet, at times, all groups need additional skills and resources to fulfill their role as vital partners in community life. The Technical Assistance Progam (TAP) supports established and emerging institutions and artists, helping them develop effective leadership, sound management practices, diverse financial resources, and successful partnerships. 

 

Applications for 2012-13 (January 1, 2012 - December 31, 2013) have closed.

Guidelines

Eligibility

Applicant requirements and restrictions:

  • Must be a private, nonprofit, tax-exempt agency, 501(c)(3) status proof from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) OR an Indiana public entity (part of city, county, or state government);
  • Nonprofit corporations that are based in another state must be registered in Indiana as a
  • Foreign Corporation, have an Indiana address, & provide all IAC‐funded arts activities in Indiana.
  • Must be incorporated in the State of Indiana at the time of application; and
  • Must not have any outstanding Final Grant Reports due to the Indiana Arts Commission.

Maximum Grant Request

Grant Amount: 

  • Up to $11,000 for each Regional Arts Partner ($6,000 must be administered for the counties within its regional designation). 
  • Competitively, any nonprofit or public organization may apply for up to $5,000 per year for the two year application.

Match Requirement:

  • There is no Match Requirement

Review Process

The following criteria will be used in assessment of each application:

  1. Educational Value (50 Points)
    • Technical assistance topics and subtopics naturally correlate to at least one of the four 2011 IAC strategic priority areas;
    • Applicant provides satisfactory credentials for presenters and/or instructors that will facilitate its proposed program; &
    • Applicant provides educational value to its community and while strengthening its own mission.
  2. Community Participation and Accessibility (25 Points)
    • Applicant understands and is responsive to the diverse needs and interests of its community; &
    • Proposed activities will strengthen the relationship between the community and the applicant
  3. Planning and Evaluation (25 Points)
    • Applicant employs planning and assessment strategies to establish goals for the activities; &
    • Applicant details appropriate methods of documenting and evaluating its TAP activities.

Panel meetings are open to the public and applicants are encouraged to attend, but cannot lobby panelists on behalf of their applications. Please read the Panel Audience Information before attending a panel.

How to Apply

  1. Open your Internet browser and navigate to www.in.gov/arts
  2. Click “Access Online Applications & Reports”
  3. Click the link to access the IAC’s online grant system.
  4. If this is the first time for an application to the IAC, an online profile will need to be completed. If not, then you will enter in your username and password and proceed to the application.
  5. After you login, select the "Current Programs & Applications" button on the left navigation and scroll down to the appropriate link.

Reporting

All reporting will be submitted in the IAC's Online Grant System unless otherwise noted in the guidelines.

Deadlines

Year One Final Report/Second Year Update:  January 18, 2013 by 4:30 p.m. EST
Year Two Final Report:  January 17, 2014 by 4:30 p.m. EST
