Panel Audience Information
Per the Indiana Open Public Meeting Law, IC 5-14-1.5, all Indiana Arts Commission business meetings, including advisory panel sessions, are open to the public for observation and may be recorded. Applicants are invited and encouraged to attend. There is no provision for public comment or questions during the grant advisory panel session, therefore Applicants cannot "lobby" panelists on behalf of their applications before, during, or after the panel meeting.
Recordings of previous grant review panel meetings can be found on the Panel Audio page.
IAC supports the open panel process because it provides all Hoosiers an opportunity to observe the process by which public funds for the arts are distributed. It also allows applicants to directly hear panelists’ comments regarding grant proposals, clarifies the review process, provides an opportunity for applicants to learn about proposed projects in other areas of the state, and strengthens future projects.
|Special accommodations such as sign language interpretation must be requested at least 10 business days prior to the event by contacting Paige Sharp at email@example.com or (317) 232-1279.|
About the Panel and Review Process
The advisory panel is composed of in-state and out-of-state individuals who are knowledgeable in not-for-profit governance and management, community impact and outreach efforts, regranting through a decentralized system and people who understand budgets and whose credentials have been approved by the IAC, and who volunteer their time and expertise.
Panelists will review and assess each application based on the criteria listed in your grant program's guidelines.
Please note that panelists are required to review all submitted application materials, support documentation and attachments prior to the panel meeting and these materials may not be viewed in their entirety the day of the panel as part of the review process.
Contact Between Applicants and Panelists
Applicants and panelists will have no direct contact or conversation about the evaluation and disposition of applications before, during or after the advisory panel meeting.
After the Panel Meetings
Following the panel review process, scoring and funding recommendations are reviewed by the IAC Programs, Grants & Services Committee. This committee will make final funding recommendations to the full Commission which will give final approval of grant awards at a following Quarterly Business Meeting.
