[INDOT] Public Hearing regarding a proposed new I-65 interchange at Worthsville Road in Johnson County

Entry Description

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will hold a public hearing regarding the proposed new I-65 Interchange at Worthsville Road project in Johnson County, Indiana.  Specially, the project proposes new interstate access improvements, including a new interchange and added travel lanes, at the existing Worthsville Road (County Road 750 North) overpass of I-65 in Johnson County, Indiana.  The public hearing will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Clark-Pleasant Middle School, 1354 Worthsville Road in Greenwood. 

The purpose of the public hearing is to offer all interested persons an opportunity to comment on the draft environmental document and preliminary design plans for this project.  The environmental document is a summary of project analysis and impact evaluation as it pertains to the surrounding project area, associated with the proposed interchange construction.  The environmental document and current design plans will be available for public review and inspection at the following locations beginning 3/25/13:

In addition, the environmental document and current design plans are available for review via the INDOT website at: http://www.in.gov/indot/3121.htm.  INDOT respectfully requests public comments regarding the proposed New I-65 Interchange at Worthsville Road be submitted by Friday, April 26, 2013.  All public comments submitted during the comment period will be included in an official public hearings transcript, which will be reviewed, evaluated and given full consideration by INDOT project officials as part of the decision making process for this project.  

 

The public hearing will feature an open house session beginning at 5:00pm where interested persons may view project displays, talk with project officials, review the environmental document, inspect preliminary design plans, learn about real estate acquisition procedures and other project related information in an informal setting.  A formal presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. where INDOT officials will present the findings of the environmental document and present preliminary design details, and discuss impacts associated with this proposed project.  Following the formal presentation, a public comment / statement session will be held where concerned citizens and members of the public are afforded an opportunity to provide verbal and/or written testimony for the public record.                                                           

In regards to the proposed project, it is anticipated that approximately 86 acres of new permanent right-of-way will be acquired as part of this project.  Additionally, it is anticipated that the project will include three residential displacements.  During construction Worthsville Road will be primarily open to traffic, except for periods of temporary closure to demolish portions of the existing bridge and complete connections to relocated Graham Road and relocated County Road 200 East.  Maintenance of traffic details will be presented during the public hearing.
