Public Information Meeting for U.S. 41 & Lloyd Interchange Project

Public can comment on design plans for new bridges

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is announcing that a public information meeting will be held regarding the U.S. Route 41 and Lloyd Expressway Interchange project in Evansville.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, November 15, at the Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center, 1901 Lynch Road in Evansville.  The informal open house session will begin at 5:00 p.m. local time with a formal presentation taking place at 6:00 p.m.  After the formal presentation is complete, the meeting will revert back to the open house format where design consultants and INDOT staff will be able to answer questions from the public.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide an update regarding project developments since INDOT last met with the public in March of 2009.  This project proposes to reconstruct the interchange on U.S. 41 at the south junction of S.R. 62/S.R. 66 (Lloyd Expressway).  All signals on S.R. 62/66 within the interchange are to be eliminated.  As part of the interchange modification project, the northbound and southbound U.S. 41 bridges over S.R. 66/S.R. 62 will be replaced, however, the number of lanes on the Lloyd Expressway will remain unchanged, with three through lanes in each direction.  A new pedestrian bridge will be provided on the east side of the interchange providing a safe passage for pedestrians over S.R. 66.  Traffic is to be maintained on the existing roadways during the construction.
