Entry Description
STATEHOUSE — State Representative Kevin Mahan (R-Hartford City) presented Connie Rose, Executive Director of the Family Service Society in Marion, with the Sagamore of the Wabash award. Connie received the award at the 10th annual Circle of Friends luncheon which celebrated her 40 years of service at the agency.

“I am honored to present this award to Connie,” said Rep Mahan. “Throughout her many years of selfless service to our community, Connie has proven time and again to be a woman of high morals and conviction.”

The Sagamore of the Wabash award was created during the term of Gov. Ralph Gates, who served from 1945-1949. The award is one of the most esteemed honors the Governor of Indiana can bestow. It is presented to those who have rendered a distinguished service to the state.

Connie has served nearly 27 years as Executive Director of the Family Service Society, a position she is retiring from this year. Prior to her current role, she served 13 years as a therapist in the clinical department at the agency.

Connie has studied at Bethel College, Indiana University South Bend and Ball State University and earned both a Master of Arts and an Education Specialist degree. Prior to joining Family Service Society, Connie worked in education for six years.

Connie has received numerous awards throughout her tenure including The Tony Maidenberg Community Service Award from the Indiana Wesleyan University Faculty in 2005 and the Public Service Award for Outstanding Public Service to North Central Indiana Communities in 2010.

“Connie is the epitome of what the Sagamore of the Wabash award is about,” said Rep. Mahan. “I am grateful for her service and for being a continued role model in our community.”

Rep. Mahan represents portions of Blackford, Delaware, Grant and Wells counties. He serves as Chairman of the Government and Regulatory Reform Committee. He also serves on the Courts and Criminal Code; Family, Children and Human Affairs; and Insurance Committees.
