[DNR] Guided Canoe/Kayak Trip, Monroe Lake
Start Date: 8/2/2014Start Time: 8:00 AM
End Date: 8/2/2014End Time: 12:00 PM
Entry Description
Back-story in the Back-water
Explore a portion of Monroe Lake’s back-water with a knowledgeable guide. Our focus will be on the lake’s fascinating cultural history. You’ll learn about some of the families that once lived here, how the land came to be a reservoir, and what still remains from those pre-reservoir days. As we paddle through this back-water area, we’ll also highlight the natural beauty that now thrives here as a result of the reservoir construction. The trip will last 3-4 hours

Location: Meet at Pine Grove State Recreation Area Boat Ramp. Located off of State Road 446, about 6 miles from Bloomington, directions provided to registrants.
Fee: $10 a person. Bring your own canoe/kayak or rent one for the morning. Canoes (2-person) and kayaks (1-person) are available for an additional $35 rental fee, which includes life jackets and boat delivery/pick-up.
Restrictions: Limited to 10 people, minimum age of 15. Use the red register icon in the upper right corner to reserve a spot.

This program is designed for intermediate/advanced paddlers. Beginners may participate ONLY IF they are accompanied in the same canoe by an intermediate/advanced paddler. There will be no paddling instruction.

After we receive your online registration, we will contact you by phone to collect the program fee (and canoe/kayak rental fee, if needed). Please provide a daytime phone number.
