[ISP] Deer and Motorcycle Collide Injuring One in Sullivan County

Entry Description

Sullivan County—This afternoon at 1:07, Indiana State Police and Sullivan County emergency agencies responded to a deer and motorcycle collision on State Road 63, just north of County Road 600 North.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 56-year-old Stephen M. Dunphy of Terre Haute, IN., was southbound on SR 63 near CR 600 North when a deer entered the roadway from the west. Dunphy was unable to avoid the deer and the collision ejected Dunphy from the motorcycle.

Dunphy was wearing a helmet and sustained abrasions and complaints of pain. He was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital by Sullivan County EMS. No citations were issued and Dunphy’s injuries appeared to be non-threatening.

The crash was investigated by Senior Trooper Tom Hanks. Assisting were ISP Trooper Brent Robinson, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Sullivan County EMS, Turman Township Fire/Rescue and Fairbanks Fire/Rescue.
