[ISP] Construction Zone Traffic Stop Results in Driver's Arrest
Start Date: 5/5/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 5/5/2014
Entry Description

Vigo County—This morning at 9:55, Indiana State Police Trooper Ted Robertson was patrolling an INDOT construction zone near the three mile marker of Interstate 70, when he radar tracked an eastbound 2014 Chevrolet Sonic passenger car at 75 miles-per-hour in a 55 mph zone. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Justin Hostetler, age 33, of New Philo, Ohio appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Trooper Robertson transported Hostetler to the Vigo County Jail where he tested .11% BAC. Hostetler was incarcerated for Operating Vehicle While Intoxicated and cited for work zone speeding.

Assisting at the scene were ISP Troopers Matt Ames and Mike Laney.

Motorists are reminded that INDOT and the Indiana State Police are partnering to ensure the safety of those working in the construction zones, as well as those motorists traveling through a work area. Along with the constant education and appropriate warning signage by INDOT officials, state troopers are vigorously patrolling the zones looking for dangerous and/or impaired drivers. Motorists should slow down, obey speed and warning signs, do not follow too closely, do not make unsafe lane movements, drive sober, and simply use extreme caution when traveling in construction zones. Work zone fines are nearly three times higher than normal infraction costs, so use good judgment in your travels.
