I-70 Repairs in Wayne, Henry & Hancock Counties

East Central Indiana – Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractors plan pavement repairs on Interstate 70 through the weekend in Wayne, Henry and Hancock counties.

Beginning tonight at 8 p.m., Hunt Paving, the INDOT contractor for a $1.6 million pavement repair project near Richmond, plans to restrict the left lane of westbound I-70 near Exit 151 to U.S. 27 and the right lane of eastbound I-70 near Exit 156 to U.S. 40. Hunt will saw cut areas of concrete pavement to be repaired this weekend and end restrictions before 6 a.m. Friday.

The U.S. 40 ramp to eastbound I-70 will require closure for the safety of workers and motorists while the right lane of eastbound I-70 is closed near Exit 156. A signed detour will be in place directing U.S. 40 motorists to Ohio State Road 127 to access eastbound I-70. Hunt will restrict the same areas again Friday night, including the U.S. 40 ramp.

Beginning Friday at 8 p.m., E & B Paving crews will restrict the left lane of eastbound I-70 for three miles beginning near State Road 109 (Knightstown Exit 115). E & B Paving, the INDOT contractor for the $7.7 million project, is repairing and resurfacing a 7-mile section of I-70 between State Roads 109 and 3 (New Castle Exit 123) by the end of this year.

Beginning Friday at 9 p.m., crews from Milestone Contractors will restrict the right lane of eastbound I-70 between mile markers 101 and 103 west of State Road 9 (Exit 104 to Greenfield). One lane of westbound I-70 is currently diverted to share the eastbound side of the interstate between State Road 9 and Mt. Comfort Road as pavement repairs are made to the westbound driving lane. Milestone is expected to complete the $15.2 million project in August.

All lane restrictions beginning Friday night will remain in place as damaged pavement is removed and new concrete is allowed time to cure. All lanes are anticipated to reopen before Monday morning.

Drivers are advised to practice safe habits in highway work zones, such as following work zone speed limits, maintaining safe distances from other vehicles, and avoiding all distractions. For information on INDOT work zones and highway restrictions, go to or call toll-free 800-261-ROAD (7623).
