I-70 Repairs in Hancock, Henry & Wayne Counties

East Central Indiana – Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) crews and contractors plan pavement repairs on Interstate 70 through the weekend between State Road 9 and the Ohio state line.

Tonight, a moving INDOT crew will restrict lanes in various locations between State Road 9 (Greenfield) and State Road 109 (Knightstown) for pothole repairs beginning after 11 p.m. and ending by 6 a.m.

On Friday at 8 p.m., E & B Paving crews will restrict one lane of eastbound I-70 (at mile marker 118) between State Road 109 (Knightstown Exit 115) and State Road 3 (New Castle Exit 123). The lane will remain restricted until new concrete has time to cure. It is anticipated to reopen Sunday afternoon. E & B Paving, the INDOT contractor for the $7.7 million project, is repairing and resurfacing this 7-mile section of I-70 by the end of this year.

Hunt Paving, the INDOT contractor for a $1.6 million pavement repair project near Richmond, plans to restrict the right lane of eastbound I-70 near U.S. 27 (mile marker 151) and at State Road 227 (Exit 153) beginning Thursday at 8 p.m. Hunt will saw cut areas of concrete pavement to be repaired this weekend and end restrictions before 6 a.m. Friday. The contractor will restrict the same areas again Friday night, and the restrictions will remain in place until Sunday afternoon to ensure new concrete has time to cure.

Drivers are advised to practice safe habits in highway work zones, such as following work zone speed limits, maintaining safe distances from other vehicles, and avoiding all distractions. For information on INDOT work zones and highway restrictions, go to TrafficWise.in.gov or call toll-free 800-261-ROAD (7623).
