EDITOR’S NOTE — Please include the following statement from State Rep. Woody Burton (R-Whiteland) in your coverage of the passage of House Bill 1002:

STATEHOUSE — “The passage of House Bill 1002, one of our agenda bills, will transfer up to $400 million to improve and expand our state’s highway infrastructure. The transfer of funds will allow Indiana to be eligible for more than $1.6 billion in additional federal funds. Increasing our investment in roads will provide at least 40,000 new jobs through their design, construction and maintenance in addition to providing a means for further economic development for our community and state.”

Rep. Burton represents a portion of Johnson County. He serves as Chairman of the Financial Institutions Committee. He also serves on the Education, Elections and Apportionment, Insurance, and Rules and Legislative Procedures Committees.
