[ISP] Tennessee Woman Injured in Grant Co. Crash
Start Date: 2/24/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 2/24/2014
Entry Description

Grant County – Today at approximately 2:14 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police and the Grant County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle crash on I-69 near the 256 mile marker, which injured a Tennessee woman.

The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper A.J. Coffee revealed that Amber Richmond, 20, Columbia, TN, was driving a 2002 Nissan Sentra southbound on I-69 near the 256 mile marker. For an undetermined reason, the Nissan traveled onto the median rumble strips. Richmond overcorrected and the Nissan traveled off the west side of the interstate. The Nissan rolled once coming to rest on its top in a side ditch. Richmond was trapped in the car and had to be extricated by firefighters from the Gas City Fire Department.

Richmond was transported by ambulance to Marion General Hospital with a non life threatening head injury. She was wearing a seat belt which Trooper Coffee believes helped prevent more serious injuries.

Neither the use of alcohol nor narcotics is suspected as having contributed to this crash.
