[ISP] Traffic Stop Yields Drugs
Start Date: 2/10/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 2/10/2014
Entry Description
Jackson County: Yesterday afternoon at approximately 2:00 p.m. Trooper Randel Miller stopped a 2008 Mercury passenger vehicle on I-65 southbound near the 51 mile marker for several traffic violations. During his conversation with the driver, 27 year old Jamie Husband of Blufton, IN Tpr. Miller became suspicious of possible criminal activity. Tpr. Miller led his K-9 partner, Jinx on a walk around of the vehicle for an “open air sniff.” Jinx alerted on the trunk area of the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed approximately two pounds of high grade marijuana in the trunk. Husband was taken into custody without incident and was transported to Jackson County Jail where he stands charged with Dealing in Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana (over 3 grams), both Class D Felonies.

This case is yet another example of how a traffic stop for traffic violations can lead to more serious criminal activity. Tpr. Miller was assisted at the scene by Tpr. Matt Holley.
