[ISP] Bloomington Troopers Kept Busy by Latest Winter Weather
Start Date: 2/5/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 2/5/2014
Entry Description

Bloomington ---Troopers from the Bloomington Post have been busy responding to various calls for service over the past 24 hours. The Bloomington District is comprised of Monroe, Morgan, Greene, Owen, Lawrence and Brown counties.

Since 3:00p.m. yesterday, until 3:00p.m. today, troopers have responded to 7 property damage crashes, 1 personal injury crash, 4 slide offs and 24 disabled motorists.

No serious or life threatening injuries were reported.

The Bloomington District utilized all available manpower to ensure the safety of the motoring public and maintained coverage throughout the storm.

Trouble spots for motorists during the storm included State Road 37 at Vernal Pike in Bloomington, SR 252 at Kramer Town Loop and SR 252 at SR 37 (both in Morgan County) and SR 46 West of Nashville.

The most frequent cause for the crashes and slide-offs were motorists driving too fast for conditions. Drivers are encouraged to slow down, follow other vehicles at a safe distance, avoid driver distractions and use extreme caution while driving.

Currently, state roadways within the Bloomington District range from snow covered to scattered slick spots. Secondary roads remain snow covered slick and hazardous.

An Indiana State Police web page dedicated to the current winter storm is available at http://www.in.gov/isp/3099.htm. Information will be updated continually throughout the duration of the storm.
