[ISP] Multiple Agency Investigation Leads to Two Arrests

Union City – The Pendleton District Meth Suppression Squad worked closely with the police departments from Union City, Ohio and Union City, Indiana in an ongoing meth investigation that led to search warrants being served this evening and two arrests. (The town of Union City is split by the Indiana- Ohio border.)

Members of the Pendleton District Meth Suppression Squad along with members of the Union City, Indiana and Union City, Ohio Police Departments served a search warrant on two apartments at 529 N. Howard St. Union City, Indiana. When Officers entered the two apartments in the building they found two meth labs.

Arrested at APT.1 was Melvin Ford, age 37, and Karen Ford, age 34. Both are charged with Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine within 1000’ of a school, Class “A” Felony and Possession of Methamphetamine, Class “B” Felony.

In addition the couple was charged with Unlawful Sale of Precursors, Possession of Precursors, Maintaining a Common Nuisance and Neglect of a Dependant, all Class “D” Felonies. Two children, ages 10 and 14, were removed from the home by the Department of Child Services and turned over to family members.

In addition Melvin Ford was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Class “D” Felony. Karen Ford was also charged with Possession of Paraphernalia, Class “D” Felony. Officers were assisted at the scene by the Union City Special Entry Tactical Team, Union City Fire and EMS and Randolph County Department of Child Services.
