I-465 South Side Crash Kills One

Indianapolis, IN- Thursday morning, March 21st, at 8:20 a.m., Indiana State Police responded to a two vehicle crash on I-465 WB at the 6.6 mm (near Mann Road) that claimed the life of a Greenfield man.

Preliminary investigation revealed that John L. Roberson, 57, of Earlville, IL. was operating a 2007 Freightliner tractor trailer in the right lane of I-465 at the 6.6 mm. A 2002 Ford work van, operated by Kenneth S. Meadows, 46, of Greenfield, ran into the rear of the semi trailer. According to a witness, the semi tractor trailer was operating below the speed limit and the work van was traveling above the speed limit. The witness did not see any brake lights from the work van and no skid marks were observed.

Meadow’s was transported to Methodist Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The family has been notified. Roberson was not injured.

Investigators do not suspect alcoholic beverages to be a contributing factor in this crash. Roberson was transported to Wishard Hospital and submitted to a blood draw. The toxicology results of Meadow’s will be available through the Marion County Coroner’s office after the completion of the autopsy.

No charges or tickets have been filed. The investigation is continuing
