Entry Description
Vigo County—Members of the Indiana State Police Crimes Against Children Unit concluded a nearly year-long investigation into allegations of Child Solicitation and Exploitation involving a former Terre Haute resident who was previously employed by a local Terre Haute banking institution. The suspect was arrested Tuesday evening at his residence in Georgetown, Kentucky on a Vigo County arrest warrant.
Arrested: Christopher E. Cyre, age 38, of Georgetown, Kentucky
Charges: Child Solicitation, Class C felony; Child Exploitation, Class C felony; and Possession of Child Pornography, Class D felony. Held in Scott County Kentucky awaiting extradition to Vigo County, bond set at $50,000, no 10%.
In March of 2012, detectives from the Indiana State Police Crimes Against Children Unit received four cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) alleging inappropriate sexual images of teenage boys and girls, as well as numerous pornographic web-cam interactions, were being viewed by a person using the local banking institution IP address. The images and videos were less than fifty total with the victims ranging in age from 13 to 15. Further investigation revealed the suspect was Christopher E. Cyre and he was allegedly committing the offenses using an alias and while at work in his capacity as an Information Technology specialist for the bank. Bank officials were contacted and cooperated fully with the ISP investigation.
The lead investigator was ISP Detective Jason Callaway. Assisting were ISP Sergeant Jennifer Barnes and members of the Hamilton County Indiana Child Exploitation Task Force.
Under the law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. |
