Bloomington: On February 26, 2013, a Bloomington couple was arrested after the Indiana State Police Meth Task Force located an active meth lab. At approximately 7:45 p.m., troopers executed a search warrant at 5101 S Madison Street in Bloomington. Troopers located an active methamphetamine laboratory, chemicals including sodium hydroxide lye, sulfuric acid, lithium metal, pseudoephedrine, ammonium nitrate, starting fluid and camp fuel. Troopers also found white powder that tested positive for methamphetamine and paraphernalia used to ingest methamphetamine. Hazardous mixed chemical reactions used to produce methamphetamine were also located.
ARRESTED:
Julia Nicole Aylward (Hamm), 28, of 925 W. Graham Drive, on preliminary charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance; booked into Monroe County Jail at 9:05 p.m. Bond set at $40,000 surety, $500 cash.
Benjamin J. Aylward, 30, of 5101 S. Madison St., on preliminary charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of precursors, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia; booked into Monroe County Jail at 8:38 p.m. Bond set at $40,000 surety, $500 cash, but is on hold for probation.
If you have information on possible methamphetamine activity, contact the Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Task Force at 812-332-4411. Anonymous tips often lead to successful investigations and the removal of dangerous methamphetamine labs. The labs can give off a distinct odor that can be compared to a smell of ammonia and/or a chemical odor associated with starting fluid or camp fuel.
