Entry Description
Anderson - This morning around 3:30 a.m. Trooper Jason Girt was driving north on Central Avenue in Anderson, around 29th St., when he got behind a Chevrolet Pickup with the driver not wearing his safety belt. When Girt activated his lights to stop the truck, it took off at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle turned west into an alley and continued for 4-5 blocks disregarding traffic signs, at one point crossing Main St. at a high rate of speed. The vehicle ended up driving through a Walgreen’s parking lot, crossing 14th. St. into a McDonald’s parking lot where the driver jumped out and ran. Trooper Girt caught the subject a short time later.
Arrested was Jomokali B. Bailey, age 37, of Anderson. He was lodged in the Madison County Jail on charges of Resisting Law Enforcement, Fleeing, Class “D” Felony and Operating While Intoxicated, Class “A” Misdemeanor.
The Indiana State Police remain committed to reducing crashes and monitoring the top causes for crashes. Motorists are encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911. Give a vehicle description, location, and direction of travel. Never follow an impaired driver. |
