Entry Description
LaPorte County-An early morning crash had a loaded semi tractor and trailer run off the interstate, into some trees where it is suspended over Trail Creek waterway.
At approximately 1:10 a.m., this morning, Wednesday, January 30, 2013, a 2007 Kenworth semi tractor pulling a box trailer, loaded with approximately 41,000 pounds of auto parts, was east bound on I-94 when the driver, Charles E. Jackson, 55 of Etowah, Iowa stated his wheel jerked to the right causing him to lose control. The Kenworth went off the roadway, down into a ditch, through a tree line where the trailer got lodged in the trees and the tractor came to rest in trees suspended over Trail Creek.
Coolspring Volunteer Fire had to use chain saws to cut parts of the tree away to extricate Jackson from the semi. Jackson had complaint of pain and refused medical treatment.
The semi, owned by Reeves Brothers Trucking out of Lexington, Tennessee, had extensive damage to the tractor and trailer.
The semi has to be off loaded before it can be removed from the trees and Cloverleaf Towing is on scene.
