[ISP] Three Versailles Investigators Celebrate Career Milestones

Versailles: Three local Indiana State Police investigators are celebrating career milestones. Sergeant Steve Weigel, Detective Sergeant Tom Baxter, and Detective Tracy Rohlfing recently completed 25 years of service with the Indiana State Police. All three were members of the 45th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy graduating in December, 1987.

Upon graduation Sgt. Weigel was assigned the ISP Sellersburg District and was assigned patrol responsibilities in Harrison County. In February, 1990 he transferred to Versailles District where he was assigned Dearborn County. During his career he has served as a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon, Emergency Response Team, Field Training Officer, and Gaming Enforcement Detective. He is currently an Indiana State Police Crime Scene Investigator and has served in that capacity for nine years.

Sgt. Weigel is a native of Ripley County and a 1981 graduate of Batesville High School. He worked as a dispatcher for the Batesville Police Department from 1981 until 1983 when he was hired as a patrolman for the Batesville Police Department. He worked as a patrolman until leaving for the ISP Recruit Academy in 1987. Sgt. Weigel is married and has four children and resides in the St. Leon area.

Det/Sgt. Baxter has spent his entire career at the Versailles District. Upon graduation from the recruit academy he was assigned patrol responsibilities in Dearborn County. During his career he has served on the Tactical Intervention Platoon, Field Training Officer, and Gaming Enforcement Detective. In 2003 he was promoted to detective and in October, 2011 was promoted to Detective Sergeant.

Det/Sgt. Baxter is an Ohio County native and a 1983 graduate of Rising Sun High School and attended Louisville Technical School graduating in 1985. He currently resides in Rising Sun with his wife and three children.

Upon graduation from the recruit academy, Det. Rohlfing was assigned the ISP Sellersburg District and was assigned patrol responsibilities in Scott County. In February, 1990 he joined Sgt. Weigel transferring to Versailles District where he was assigned patrol responsibilities in Ripley County. During his career he has served as a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon, Field Training Officer, and Gaming Enforcement Detective. In 1997 he was promoted to Detective and has served in that capacity since.

Det. Rohlfing is a native of Ripley County and a 1983 graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School in Osgood. He attended college at Indiana Central graduating in 1987 with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. He is married and has three children and resides in Batesville.
