Entry Description
State Sen. Luke Kenley (R-Noblesville) made the following statement today in response to Gov. Mike Pence’s State of the State Address:
STATEHOUSE (Jan. 22, 2013) — “I’m very enthused the Pence Administration is recognizing the need for transportation funding in Indiana. How to support Indiana’s roads and infrastructure is one of the most important conversations we’ll have this year, and it will take the involvement of both the governor’s team and the legislature to find the right funding mechanism.
“To really make a difference in the lives of Hoosiers, lawmakers must take responsibility for navigating the challenges Indiana faces. This means not only supporting residents by funding essential state services, but also using caution with spending increases to protect against future economic downturns. There’s no question that these goals are shared by my colleagues in the legislature and the governor’s office, although several different means have been suggested to meet our obligations. At the end of the day, it will take the debating of ideas democracy is intended to inspire, along with unity and fiscal integrity, to put Hoosiers back to work while keeping Indiana’s books in the black.”
