Entry Description
The Indiana Department of Transportation closed State Road 1 on either side of the Mississinewa River bridge in Randolph County around 11 o’clock this morning due to heavy rains and flooding in the river basin.
INDOT Albany Subdistrict manager Joe Olson says S.R. 1 lanes between S.R. 28 south of Redkey and C.R. 800 North will remain closed until water recedes.
INDOT officials caution motorists that most “flooding deaths” occur in automobiles. Six inches of standing water can stall a car. One foot of water can cause a vehicle to float away. |
