Entry Description
INDIANAPOLIS, STATE FIRE MARSHAL’S OFFICE HOSTING NASFM ANNUAL CONFERENCE
State Fire Marshals from more than 25 states to attend conference, experience city

Indianapolis is the host city this year for the National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM) Annual Conference, taking place Aug. 7-9 at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown. State fire marshals from more than 25 states will converge on the city for the three-day event, hosted by the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office and State Fire Marshal Jim Greeson.

“We are proud to be the host city for this year’s conference,” said Greeson. “It’s the perfect way to show off our beautiful city to our great state fire marshals and other professionals from across the country. And we have a robust agenda filled with timely topics and impressive speakers.”

Some of the topics that will be discussed during the conference include school safety and security, the latest research on the effectiveness of residential sprinklers, new fire suppression rating schedules and fire behavior. There is also an exhibit hall.

One high point of the conference will be the showing of the documentary Trial by Fire: Lives Re-Forged, a film produced and directed by Megan Smith-Harris, who will also speak at the event. Trial by Fire: Lives Re-Forged shares the stories of fire survivors from all walks of life and what it takes for them to put their lives back together.

“Conference attendees will also have a little spare time to see some of our city,” said Greeson, “including touring the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, taking in an Indians game and ending the conference with the President’s Annual Reception and Banquet at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.”

The State Fire Marshal’s office is a division of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
