Operation Indy Commute – I-69 Added Travel Lanes Project

Scheduled Lane Restrictions Through Sunday

FISHERS, Ind. – Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractors for the added travel lanes project on I-69 have updated schedules for expected lane restrictions through Sunday night.

Rieth-Riley Construction, the INDOT contractor for the $11 million added travel lanes project, plans to restrict the right lane of southbound I-69 between 96th Street and I-465 tonight after 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.  Crews will be removing rumble strips and repaving to prepare to shift traffic to the right.

On Thursday and Friday nights, contractors expect to restrict one lane of southbound I-69 at 8 p.m. and two lanes after 10 p.m.  Restricted lanes will vary throughout the night as crews work to modify pavement markings and shift traffic to the right. Lane restrictions are expected to end by 6 a.m.

On Saturday and Sunday nights, contractors expect to restrict the left lane of southbound I-69 between 96th Street and 116th Street to move barrier wall. The restriction will begin after 8 p.m. and end by 6 a.m.

Rieth-Riley is constructing an additional travel lane along southbound I-69 between 116th Street and I-465. Auxiliary lanes will be built to connect northbound and southbound interchange ramps between 116th, 96th and 82nd streets.

Operation Indy Commute is an initiative by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) to strategically eliminate recurring commuting bottlenecks on I-69 in Marion and Hamilton counties between I-465 and Exit 205. A separate contract is adding a southbound travel lane between 116th Street and I-465 and constructing northbound and southbound auxiliary lanes to connect interchange ramps between 116th, 96th and 82nd streets.
