Entry Description

Vigo County—Today, detectives from the Omaha, Nebraska Police Homicide Unit, along with detectives and crime scene investigators from the ISP Putnamville Post, spent the afternoon and evening hours executing search warrants for the residence at 5279 Greywing Court in Terre Haute. The Vigo County search warrants were in relation to an ongoing multiple homicide investigation in Omaha.

At approximately 11:35 this morning, Indiana State Police SWAT team members entered the residence and secured it, followed by detectives and crime scene investigators from both Omaha and ISP. The home was then processed for any evidence as part of the ongoing homicide investigation.

The home owner, Anthony Joseph Garcia, age 40, of 5279 Greywind Court, Terre Haute, IN. was taken into custody this morning in Illinois and charged with multiple counts of murder in Omaha, Nebraska. Garcia is alleged to have been responsible for the 2008 deaths of 11-year-old Thomas Hunter and 57-year-old Shirlee Sherman, along with the May 2013 deaths of Roger and Mary Brumback.

Questions concerning the Omaha Investigation should be directed to the Office of Police Chief Todd Schmaderer at 402-444-5818.
