[ISP] Pursuit Ends With Several Felony Charges For A Richmond Man

Entry Description

Richmond - Around 1:50 a.m. this morning Pendleton Trooper Sam Cook attempted to stop a car for failure to signal a turn in Richmond on North 10th St. at North E. Street. The silver 2006 Nissan initially stopped, but then took off south bound at a high rate of speed.

The Nissan fled south on 10th St. then west on South B Street, then south on South 7th with the driver bailing out on foot at South E St. After a foot chase through yards Trooper Cook caught the subject in the area of 8th and S. E St. and took him into custody.

Arrested was Marcus Armstead, age 24, of Richmond. He is charged with Possession of Cocaine, Class “D” Felony; Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, (pills believed to be Lortab,) Class “D” Felony; Operating While Intoxicated with a Prior Conviction, Class “D” Felony and Resisting Law Enforcement, Class “D” Felony.

In addition Armstead was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Class “A” Misdemeanor and Driving While Suspended with a Prior Conviction, Class “A” Misdemeanor. Trooper Cook was assisted by the Richmond Police Department.

The Indiana State Police remains committed to reducing the number of impaired driving crashes as well as all crashes. Motorists are encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911. Give a vehicle description, location, and direction of travel. Never follow an impaired driver.
