[ISP] Two Tipton Men Arrested in Liquor Store Robbery
Start Date: 5/29/2013Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 5/29/2013End Time: 11:59 PM
Entry Description
Tipton- Yesterday morning, a robbery investigation by Indiana State Police Detective Tony Frawley led to the arrests of Christian Salazar, 19, and Travis Bayles, 21, both from Tipton, IN. Both men were incarcerated in the Tipton County Jail to face a class B felony charge of robbery. Salazar also faces a misdemeanor charge for minor consumption of alcohol.

Monday night, at approximately 9:39 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police, the Tipton County Sheriff’s Department, and the Tipton Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting an armed robbery at the Cork N Keg Liquor Store at 133 Ash Street in Tipton. The preliminary investigation revealed that two men wearing ski mask entered the store. One of the men was allegedly armed with a handgun and demanded the store clerk give them money from the store’s cash register. The clerk complied with their request and the duo fled the store on foot. They escaped with an undisclosed amount of United States currency. The store clerk was the only person in the store at the time of the robbery. She was not injured.

A track of the suspects by a police dog from the Tipton Police Department led officers to an apartment at 318 Terrace Court, Apt. A. The apartment is approximately 160 yards north east of the Cork N Keg. Officers applied for and were granted a search warrant for the apartment. During their search, officers purportedly found evidence which linked Salazar and Bayles to the robbery. They were taken into custody and incarcerated in the Tipton County Jail.

The Tipton Police Department also arrested Glen Lewis, 19, and Eddie Lynch, 34, both from Tipton. The men were at the apartment when the search warrant was executed. Lewis was arrested for possession of marijuana under 30 grams and Lynch was arrested for resisting law enforcement.
