Entry Description

Columbus: Yesterday afternoon between 12:30 and 1:00 Indiana State Police and Columbus Police officers arrested ten individuals at two different locations in Columbus as a result of an anonymous tip. According to Trooper Matt Powell, he and Tpr. Brent Miller, acting on an anonymous tip, were conducting surveillance on a residence on Spring Valley Road in Columbus watching numerous vehicles come and go at the residence. The troopers witnessed what they believe to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction and the vehicle driven by 43 year old William McClintock of Columbus was stopped by Sergeant Brian Wilson of the Indiana State Police as Troopers Powell and Miller approached the residence and detained five individuals on the property. As the investigation continued the troopers gained enough probable cause to obtain a search warrant for the residence. Further into the investigation, enough information was obtained to seek a search warrant for another residence located on Fall Valley Road in Columbus where Columbus Police officers arrested four other individuals. As a result of the investigation, a total of ten individuals were arrested on numerous drug related charges.

Arrested and Charges:

Brandon Fields, 31 of Columbus charged with: Dealing in Methamphetamine (Class B Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class D Felony), Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Class D Felony), and Possession of Marijuana-Under 30 Grams (Class A Misdemeanor). He also had an outstanding warrant out of Bartholomew County for Possession of Methamphetamine as a result of an unrelated investigation.

Kyra Miller, 25 of Columbus charged with: Possession of a Hypodermic Needle (Class D Felony) and Visiting a Common Nuisance (Class B Misdemeanor).

Kathy Cox, 60 of Columbus charged with: Dealing in Methamphetamine (Class B Felony), Possession of Methamphetamine (Class D Felony), Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Class D Felony), Possession of Marijuana-Under 30 Grams (Class A Misdemeanor), and Possession of Paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor).

Glenn Cox, Jr., 63 of Columbus charged with: Dealing in Methamphetamine (Class B Felony), Possession of Methamphetamine (Class D Felony), Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Class D Felony), Possession of Marijuana-Under 30 Grams (Class A Misdemeanor), and Possession of Paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor).

Mark Pagels, 34 of Columbus charged with: Dealing in Methamphetamine (Class B Felony), Possession of a Hypodermic Needle (Class D Felony), and Visiting a Common Nuisance (Class B Misdemeanor).

William McClintock, 43 of Columbus charged with: Possession of Anhydrous Ammonia (Class D Felony) and Visiting a Common Nuisance (Class B Misdemeanor).

Zachariah Gruber, 32 of Columbus, Tyler Golden, 20 of Edinburgh, Dustin Evans, 23 of Edinburgh, and Larry Mozingo, 39 of Greensburg are all facing charges of Visiting a Common Nuisance (Class B Misdemeanor).

This is great example of how the cooperation of the public and a collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies can result in drugs being taken off the streets. Anonymous tips are always investigated and anyone with information regarding drug or any other criminal activity is urged to call the Indiana State Police or their local law enforcement agency. As was the case in this incident, callers can remain anonymous.
