End Date: 5/21/2013End Time: 11:59 PM
Entry Description

Muncie – On May 21, shortly before 3:30 p.m. members of the Pendleton District Meth Squad went to a home at 2732 Hoyt Ave. following up on an ongoing meth investigation. When the door of the home was answered, troopers were met with the overwhelming fumes of an active meth lab.

They immediately removed everyone from the home, including a 92-year-old woman who was on oxygen. An ambulance was summoned to the home to check the elderly female, but she refused treatment. A search warrant was then obtained for the residence.

Once inside the home Meth Squad members found an active meth lab. Arrested was Ronald Swift, age 46, charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Class “B” Felony; Possession of Methamphetamine, Class “D” Felony; Possession of the Precursors Used in the Manufacture of Methamphetamine, Class “D” Felony; Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Class “D” Felony and Possession of a Hypodermic Needle, Class “D” Felony.

Also arrested at the home was Barbara Burnett, age 46, charged with Resisting Law Enforcement, Fleeing, Class “A” Misdemeanor. Troopers at the scene were assisted by Delaware County EMS and Muncie City Police Narcotics Unit. The investigation is ongoing, with further charges possible.

Often times Meth Labs are found as a result of an anonymous tip from a neighbor or friend. Anyone with information about illegal drug use may call the Pendleton Post at 1-800-527-4752, or the Indiana State Police Drug Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756. Tips can be made and kept anonymous. The Indiana Meth Investigation System or IMIS, can also take tips on meth labs. Just go to www.meth.in.gov and click on the “Report Suspected Meth Activity” Link.
