[ISP] Motorcycle Crash Sends Rider to Hospital
Start Date: 5/21/2013Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 5/21/2013End Time: 11:59 PM
Entry Description

Henry County – This afternoon around 1:45 p.m. a red 2009 Pontiac, driven by Krystal Bisel, age 24 of Albany, pulled from SR3 north bound onto US 36 west bound into the path of an oncoming motorcycle. Robert “Bob” Jones, age 66 of Pendleton, was riding the motorcycle, a black 2002 Harley Davidson, west on US 36.

To avoid hitting the car, Jones “laid down” the motorcycle sending it skidding down the roadway on its side. The motorcycle slid down the road past the 2009 Pontiac, catching fire in the process. Jones, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Henry County Hospital and treated for abrasions and other minor injuries.

Pendleton Trooper Tyler Painter, who investigated the crash, said “The fact that Jones was wearing a helmet definitely prevented him from having more serious injuries.”

Failure to yield at intersections remains one of the top causes of crashes in Indiana. Remember to always come to a complete stop and look each direction at least twice before pulling out.

The Indiana State Police remain committed to reducing crashes and patrolling in high crash areas. We continue to monitor the top causes for crashes, and concentrating enforcement efforts on these causes.
