Lake County-A semi going too fast caused its load to shift and overturn; spilling its contents out across all lanes of I-65 north bound to I-80 west bound ramp.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Kenneth Watkins revealed that at approximately 6:00 p.m., this evening, a 2008 Freightliner semi pulling a box trailer, driven by Ramin Allazov, 28 of Chicago, took the north bound I-65 to west bound I-80 ramp too fast.  The semi was going too fast to negotiate the curve causing Allazov to brake, he then changed lanes, lost control, and the semi’s load shifted causing it to overturn onto its passenger side.

The semi owned by Standard Expedited Inc. out of Schiller Park, Illinois was carrying 40,000 pounds of metal lids.  Many of these lids came out of the roof of the trailer that split open when it overturned scattering the lids across all lanes on the ramp.

The ramp is still partially closed for clean-up of the lids and removal of the semi and trailer. One lane was reopened at approximately 8:00 p.m. 

Allazov who was wearing his seat belt was not injured.  He was cited for Load Securement and Unsafe Lane Movement.
