Vanderburgh County – Thursday afternoon, October 11th, Indiana State Police arrested Samuel J. Ballou, 27, of Henderson, KY, for Conspiracy to Commit Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud, a Class D Felony.  Ballou was arrested at approximately 4:00 p.m. after he turned himself in at the Vanderburgh County Jail.  He was later released after posting a $2,500 cash bond.

Indiana State Police Detective Vinnie Gieselman initiated a criminal investigation in January after receiving information suspicious prescriptions were filled at a pharmacy in Vanderburgh County.  Further investigation revealed Ballou allegedly obtained blank prescriptions from an Evansville physician and later provided them to James Wood, 25, of Henderson, KY.  Wood allegedly used the blank prescription to obtain 90 units of Roxicodone, which is a controlled substance to relieve pain.

Wood was arrested on July 10th for Conspiracy to Commit Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud, a Class D Felony.  He was released from the Vanderburgh County Jail after posting bond.
