Gary, Lake County-Indiana State Police Master Trooper Lionel Douglas responded to a semi roll-over where the driver lost the steel coil he was hauling and it also took a large chunk of the concrete barrier wall out.

Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 1:52 pm, this afternoon, a 2006 Volvo semi with a flat bed trailer was entering east bound I-80 from south bound Broadway when the driver, Adil Raziev, 26 of Chicago, Illinois, took the curve on the ramp too fast.  This caused the semi to roll-over blocking the ramp.

The semi was hauling a 44,780 pound steel coil that broke free from the trailer.  The coil was being delivered to a company in Chesterton.

Raziev was taken to North Lake Hospital in Gary with non-life threatening injuries.

The ramp was closed for up-righting of the semi and its trailer and removal of the steel coil.
