Entry Description
Jennings County: Last night five people were injured in a two vehicle crash as Jennings County Deputies were responding to a pursuit. According to Trooper Matthew Powell, on September 8 at approximately 8:44 p.m. Jennings County Deputy, 33 year old Allen Ritchie was operating his 2010 Dodge Charger Police vehicle southbound on S.R. 7 as he was responding to assist Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies with a pursuit. The pursuit began on S.R. 7 near Deputy in Jefferson County and had just entered Jennings County. Also in Deputy Ritchie’s vehicle was front seat passenger 41 year old John Jayne and in the back seat on the passenger side was 58 year old Randy Perdue, both Jennings County Reserve Deputies. As Ritchie neared County Road 100S in Jennings County he came up behind a 2005 Kia van driven by 67 year old Sylvia Glover of North Vernon also traveling southbound on S.R. 7. As the van started to make a turn left onto CR 100S, the two vehicles collided. Sylvia Glover and her husband, 70 year old John Glover both had complaints of pain and were treated and released from St. Vincent Hospital in North Vernon. Deputies Jayne and Perdue suffered minor injuries and both were treated and released from St. Vincent Hospital. Deputy Ritchie was transported to St. Vincent Hospital then air cared to University Hospital in Louisville, KY with injuries to his chest and back. Though serious, his injuries were not considered life threatening.
The crash, which remains under investigation, is being investigated by Trooper Matthew Powell. He was assisted by deputies from both Jefferson and Jennings County. |
