Entry Description
US 40 Lane Restrictions
On Indy's West Side
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractors will restrict traffic lanes on US 40/West Washington Street next week.
Eastbound US 40/West Washington Street will have a left lane restriction on Tuesday, September 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as crews install drainage pipe in the median between High School Road and I-465.
Westbound US 40/West Washington Street will have a right lane restriction on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as crews work on sidewalks between Dukane Way and Glen Arm Road.
Walsh Construction, the state’s contractor for the Accelerate 465 project, is reconstructing the center lanes of US 40 between I-465 and Glen Arm Road. The next phase of the project, expected to begin in late September, will shift both directions of traffic onto the north side of the road as eastbound lanes are reconstructed. Walsh plans to have all lanes open to traffic by the end of the year.
When finished, US 40 will have six eastbound lanes and five westbound lanes at High School Road. Eastbound US 40 will have one left turn lane to northbound High School Road, one right turn lane to southbound High School Road, two lanes for through traffic, and two additional lanes for merging onto northbound and southbound I-465. Westbound US 40 will have three through lanes beginning at the I-465 interchange and two dedicated turn lanes onto High School Road. The I-465 exit ramps and High School Road will also have increased capacity for turning onto US 40. |
