Entry Description
Vanderburgh County – Wednesday morning, August 22, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Trooper Korey Mauck was patrolling north on Riverside Drive near Scores Nightclub when he observed two men involved in a physical altercation in the parking lot. As soon as Trooper Mauck pulled into the parking lot one of the men fled on foot toward the Casino Aztar Hotel. Trooper Mauck chased him for a brief distance before tackling him. The male continued to resist until he was handcuffed. The male was identified as Jose Luis Garcia, 29, of Linn, TX. While Garcia was escorted back to Trooper Mauck’s patrol car he continued to be belligerent and screamed profanities at several people standing outside the nightclub. As Garcia was leaning against Mauck’s patrol car he head butted another trooper before being placed inside a patrol vehicle.
Further investigation revealed Garcia had allegedly broken into a vehicle that was parked in Scores parking lot and stole a satellite radio. A male confronted Garcia after observing him inside his friend’s vehicle. The person had just taken the satellite radio away from Garcia when Trooper Mauck pulled into the parking lot.
