[IDHS] Disaster Loans Available in Southwestern Indiana Affected by July 31 Storms
Start Date: 8/20/2012
End Date: 8/20/2012
Entry Description
DISASTER LOANS AVAILABLE IN SOUTHWESTERN INDIANA AFFECTED BY JULY 31 STORMS
Disaster Loan Center opens in Gibson County on August 21

INDIANAPOLIS – Beginning Monday, August 20, residents, businesses and non-profit organizations in southwestern Indiana affected by severe storms, high winds and hail on July 31 can apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

The loans were made available in response to a letter from Gov. Mitch Daniels on August 10, which requested a disaster declaration by the SBA.

The declaration covers Gibson County and the adjacent counties of Knox, Pike, Posey, Vanderburgh and Warrick.

The SBA will also open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Gibson County on Tuesday, August 21. SBA customer service representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the disaster loan program, explain the process, issue and help individuals complete their applications. It is not necessary to visit a center to apply for, obtain or ask questions about SBA loans.

The center is located in the following community and is open as indicated:

Gibson County
Oakland City Public Library
210 South Main Street
Oakland City, IN 47660

Opens: Tuesday, Aug. 21 from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Hours: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. weekdays
Saturday, Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. (closed Sunday)
Closes: Thursday, Aug. 30 close of business

How to Apply

Disaster loan information can be completed on SBA's secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/.

Business loan applications can also be downloaded from the SBA website at www.sba.gov. Completed applications should be returned to a Disaster Loan Outreach Center or mailed to: U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.

Individuals and businesses can call the SBA's Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 (800-877-8339 for people with speech or hearing disabilities), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET or by sending an e-mail to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.

Loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters are eligible for loans up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property. Businesses and non-profit organizations of any size may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets.

For small businesses, and most private non-profit organizations of all sizes, the SBA also offers Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster. EIDL assistance is available regardless of whether the business suffered any physical property damage.

The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is October 15, 2012. The deadline to return economic injury applications is May 16, 2013.
